A. Organization of the Human Nervous System
Definition: The human nervous system is organized into two main divisions: the Central Nervous System (CNS) comprising the brain and spinal cord, and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) consisting of nerves that connect the CNS to the rest of the body. Explanation: The nervous system functions as the body's communication network, receiving information from sensory receptors, processing it in the CNS, and sending out commands to effectors (muscles and glands). The CNS serves as the control center where integration occurs, while the PNS acts as the communication lines carrying signals to and from the CNS. This division allows for efficient processing of information and coordinated responses to internal and external stimuli. The organization reflects the principle of division of labor, with different parts specialized for specific functions.
