Electromagnetic Induction (Generator Principle) The production of an EMF in a conductor when the magnetic flux through it changes. When a coil rotates in a uniform magnetic field, the magnetic flux linkage through the coil varies sinusoidally with time. This changing flux induces an alternating EMF according to Faraday’s law. In a simple AC generator, the coil is rotated mechanically, and the induced EMF drives current through an external circuit. Example: A bicycle dynamo generates electricity to power the headlight when the wheel rotates.
